When you adopt, you’re not just giving a deserving cat a home. You’re also helping to reduce the number of cat euthanizations in Indiana animal shelters.

IndyAdopts! charges a $20 application fee per cat ($30 for two). IndyAdopts! Is s 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This fee helps support the cats during their residence at NLCC, the website and, when there is extra money, supports local spay/neuter for cats. IndyAdopts! has supported Cats Haven, a local sanctuary for disabled and special needs cats and Pet Friendly Services, an organization that provides spay/neuter certificates to pet welfare groups across the state.
In most cases, each organization that provides cats to us sets their own adoption fees, so the amount may vary.
We make every effort to update the status of each cat (available, pending, adopted) on a daily basis!
ARPO-specific information:
Kittens must be adopted in pairs unless there is another animal in the home.
Multiple applications may be accepted for cats in residence at NLCC, as ARPO is looking for the best fit. This may mean that your application could be denied because another applicant is deemed - by the ARPO foster - to provide a more suitable environment.
Before you apply, please ensure that, if you have animals in your home already, they are up-to-date on their vaccines/wellness care.
The application fee goes straight to IndyAdopts, a 501(C)3 nonprofit foundation. If your application is not approved and you do not wish to donate the fee to IndyAdopts, please submit a refund request by email to adoption@indyadopts.org. For clarification, IndyAdopts’s mission is to support the felines awaiting adoption at NLCC; there are no paid employees and every penny goes directly to support the cats.

Honey endured an injury to her tail, before she got to us, and is missing about 2 inches off the end. Though, she hasn't seemed to care at all. She loves to run and play with her siblings. It has taken a bit of time to get her to trust humans. While loud noises and fast movements still have her in flight mode, she comes right back for pets and love once things have settled back down. Honey would likely due best in a home with older children or just adults. She would love to be able to find a home with one of her siblings if possible.

Good with other pets? I love all the other cats! I like to play and do well with all of the cats. Because I am perpetually a kitten, I want to play with all of the kittens and can overwhelm the smaller ones. The dogs I see being walked in by our front window definitely catch my attention…but I’m not wanting them to get any closer!

About me: Yes, you read the right…I have retired! I made a lot of friends and cuddled a lot of kittens during my 3-year tenure as Director of Feline Activities at NLCC. I have recently become intolerant and downright grumbly with the little ones in my middle age. Life in the cat lounge isn’t forever! I have made the difficult decision to take an early. well-deserved retirement.
I will miss the staff and the many frequent human friends that loved me during my time here, but for the sake of my mental and physical health, I have handed over the Director position to Squidward. I know he will do a good job and I will miss my buddy, but my time at Nine Lives has come to a beautiful ending.
