When you adopt, you’re not just giving a deserving cat a home. You’re also helping to reduce the number of cat euthanizations in Indiana animal shelters.

Our rescue partner: ARPO (Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership)
All cats available for adoption:
Are up to date on vaccines (age appropriate)
Have been tested for FIV & FeLV
Have been spayed or neutered
Have been microchipped
Have received flea prevention
Adoption Process (approximately 1-3 business days)
Make a reservation to meet cats in residence
Tell our staff that you wish to apply for a specific feline
Complete an application at the cafe
Pay a $20 application fee for one cat (or $30 for two cats)
The rescue will:
Check mycase.gov
Verify with landlord (if applicable)
Check veterinary records
Have the feline’s foster interview you
Conduct a virtual home visit
Upon approval, rescue will inform the cafe. Cafe will set up adoption by appointment (sometimes this is completed by the foster). Note: Adoption pickups may be delayed due to income/outgo of cats in the lounge.
Adoption fee can be paid by cash, check or credit card.

Bio: I'm Tuxi and I am happy to be inside! I found myself outside looking for food and happened upon a place with lots of cats being fed everyday by nice people. I figured I'd stick around- at least I was getting shelter and nourishment. One of the ladies decided I really didn't belong outside and brought me in, got me neutered (thank goodness!) and found me a place to stay. They call me a love bunny and say I'm sweet. I also hear talk about how well I get along with other cats whether they pay attention to me or not. I've been staying with a bunny rabbit, and we get along just fine. I do like having friends both feline and human. No one has seen me with dogs, so they aren't sure how I feel about them and I'm not saying!

Bio: Millie is a young 18 month old kitty who has already had two litters of kittens. Thankfully she was rescued from that life and ARPO made sure her mama days are over. Bio: MUST LOVE DOGS!!! A little back story about Dulce (Potato is his nickname) - When ARPO Found Mr. Potato and his five siblings, they were all extremely ill from a gastrointestinal parasite. Fortunately, Potato and two of his siblings were able to make a full recovery and are now happy and healthy. Potato then went on to be adopted as a companion for a resident cat, and unfortunately, the resident cat did not want him as a friend. So he came back to his foster parents' home and is looking for his PUUURFECT forever home.
Potato loves playing with all the resident cats in his foster's home but he really loves the resident dogs. He runs right up to them and rubs up on them. Potato really needs a home that has other, cat-friendly animals in the home for him to romp and play with. Potato is energetic and loves everyone he meets. When people or other pets show up, he instantly starts rubbing on them before looking for a cat tree to climb or toys to play with. Potato has been socialized with other pets and loves both cats and dogs, as well as toddlers. Potato is looking for an experienced and loving animal owner to share his love and affection with. Give him a clean litter box, wet food, love and affection and he will be a wonderful addition to your home and family.

Playful? I am playful, but I really enjoy my naps, too. I am a deep afternoon sleeper! My latest obsession is walking on the cat wheel and complaining about the exercise I get! I’ll put on a show for you. I have been known to claim the wheel and smack any other cat who is on my wheel when I want to use it…
Good with other pets? Before Weeble was injured, my goal in life was to comfort only him and to defend him from interlopers (i.e. other kittens…I was a 1950’s parenting specialist, lol).
Good with kids? Yes, but I have some conditions. AVOID attempting to cuddle with me. I reserve my cuddle time for kittens and for Weeble.

Good with other pets? I love all the other cats! I like to play and do well with all of the cats. Because I am perpetually a kitten, I want to play with all of the kittens and can overwhelm the smaller ones. The dogs I see being walked in by our front window definitely catch my attention…but I’m not wanting them to get any closer!
Good with kids? Yes, so long as they don’t mind me spreading around all the love I have to give!
WEEBLE (aka Sir Weebs) Resident Love Monster!

About me: Yes, you read the right…I have retired! I made a lot of friends and cuddled a lot of kittens during my 3-year tenure as Director of Feline Activities at NLCC. I have recently become intolerant and downright grumbly with the little ones in my middle age. Life in the cat lounge isn’t forever! I have made the difficult decision to take an early. well-deserved retirement.
I will miss the staff and the many frequent human friends that loved me during my time here, but for the sake of my mental and physical health, I have handed over the Director position to Squidward. I know he will do a good job and I will miss my buddy, but my time at Nine Lives has come to a beautiful ending.
